My First Bluebell Photography Session
In April 2019, I had the privilege of working with a wonderful young woman who, refreshingly, was completely at ease in front of the camera.
Spring had finally arrived in my village and the first flowers were beginning to bloom. It was the perfect setting for my first spring portrait of the year.

Despite having lived in Cawston for over 15 years at that point, I had never seen the bluebells in bloom. Not wanting to miss the opportunity, I asked my friend Abi if she would do me a favour: Would she show me the bluebells …. And let me photograph her. Undaunted Abi and the Bluebells came to be.
With my 50mm and 55-250mm lenses packed, we set off on our mini adventure.
Our journey led us to Cawston Woods, and I was truly taken aback by how breathtaking and well-hidden it was.

Not all the bluebells had bloomed yet, but that did not deter us. The weather was on our side, and with the right composition and a little creativity, it was easy to capture the beauty of the scene.
This shoot was a perfect reminder that there is never an excuse to say, “There is nothing to photograph.”

Whether indoors, outdoors, or simply feeling uninspired, pick up your camera, seek out something of interest, and if nothing presents itself—create it.
I was incredibly fortunate to have a friend who not only supported me but also encouraged me to keep doing what I love.
